Outlook 2000: How do I set up my e-mail account?

  1. Open Outlook by double-clicking the Outlook icon on your desktop.



  2. The first time you start Outlook the Outlook 2000 Startup Wizard will run.  Click Next to continue.



  3. Select Internet Only and click Next to continue.



  4. On the Your Name screen type in your name as you would like it to appear on your outgoing e-mail messages and click Next to continue.



  5. Type in your you@yourdomain.com e-mail address on the Internet E-mail Address screen.  Click Next to continue.



  6. On the E-mail Server Names screen, select POP3 from the drop down list.  In the space provided below Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP) server:, enter pixelfusion.net. Type in smtp.pixelfusion.net as your Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: and click Next to continue.



  7. On the Internet Mail Logon screen, type in your Pixel Fusion user name in the field titled Account name:.  Your user name is given when your account is created and is usually the first letter of your first name combined with you last name (i.e. John Doe = jdoe).  In the Password: field, enter in your Pixel Fusion assigned password.  If you do not wish to enter your password every time you check your e-mail, put a check in the box labelled Remember password.  Click Next to continue.



  8. On this step, you will need to select which type of internet connection your computer is using.  If you are using a dial-up modem to connect to the internet, select Connect using my phone line.  If your computer is connected to a network, select Connect using my local area network [LAN].  Click Next to continue.



  9. You have now completed the basic set up for Outlook as your e-mail program. Click Finish to continue with the more advanced settings that Pixel Fusion requires to reduce SPAM on the email servers.



  10. One final setting is required to complete the setup of this new email account.  Select the Accounts... item from the Tools menu.



  11. Select the pixelfusion.net account from the Mail tab on the Internet Accounts screen.  Click Properties to view detailed information about this email account.



  12. On the Servers tab of the pixelfusion.net Properties screen, be sure to check the My server requires authentication checkbox.  Click OK to continue.



  13. Congratulations your Pixel Fusion email account setup is complete.  Click Close and begin using your email account.
